Not your average steak place
A recent visit to 14 West was a very pleasant experience from the warm welcome at the front door to the post-dinner personal tour of the upper level suites and penthouse, also managed by the restaurant.
Our dining adventure began with a delicious dijon chicken spring roll; a great substitute for the more traditional first course - the house salad. We were quite impressed with the presentation of our entrees; both steaks (although different cuts) with cheddar whipped potatoes and steamed young vegetables. The portions were large, making a to-go box necessary in order to save some room for dessert. The lemon curd tart with fresh berries tasted as beautiful and refreshing as it looked, and was definitely enough to share.
We appreciated the attentiveness of our server who made sure our table remained crumb free and our water glasses full. Also, the ambiance was just right: tables glowing from soft candlelight and music that did not interfere with conversation.
